A standard OBD2 reader may be able to read the code, but there a lot of codes that are non-standard, and then you would need a Ford specific system like Forscan to read them. But Forscan only costs about £16 for the adapter if you have access to a Windows laptop, a little more if you can use iOS or Android Apps.
As for the issues with the 1.6-litre engines, Ford said it had issued a voluntary safety recall through the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in January on certain vehicles including the
I have a Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.4TDCi and, for the past few weeks, the car won't start on a morning. I have found air in the fuel pipe but no diesel is leaking out. When I pop the bonnet and pump the fuel around myself you can see the air and bubbles in the pipe. I do this until there are no bubbles left and then the car starts, but I can't find where the air is getting in. Can you help?
If your 6 isn’t getting enough fuel, or any fuel at all, it may have a bad fuel filter or a bad fuel pump . Without the proper amount of fuel entering the combustion chamber, the 6 will crank but not start. 2. Ignition Issues. One of the most significant issues that will cause a vehicle to crank but not start are ignition issues.
I've bought a Ford focus 1.6tdci 2009 that's had the wrong fuel added (petrol into diesel) I know it's bad but bear with me. The previous owner told me it was his daughters first car. Been sat there during lockdown was about to start back at work so took it out for a drive.

As said above. you just need a hand primer to the inlet of the fuel filter and squeeze until it is firm and you hear the fuel returning to the tank. The common rail is self bleeding, so once the high pressure pump gets fuel it
It is attached to the battery box. Remove it from the battery box and disconnect it. Touch the end headed towards the starter to the POSITIVE terminal of the battery. The truck should start. Reconnect the wire, close the hood, and check for codes. You will likely have a code for EGT-13 open circuit, over temp, out of range.
My Focus Ghia Tdci had been sat on the drive for the past two months while I was on military training. I have come back and started up my car after putting a new battery in and it started, but soon after it cut out. On the second attempt it cut out almost immediately. When I turn the key I can't year any humming noise from the car, which I used to hear beforehand. All the car does now is try
Hello and Welcome to justanswer.. If you look at the front of the engine - in the mid section - you will see a black cannister - with a screw top - about 4 " circumference or so - and on top there are three pipes and an electrical connector
its a 2006 s40, 1.6d, it sounded like a fuel problem for not starting, so this car is supposed to ahve fuel pump in tank low pressure and then high pressure mounted to engine, tried switching on ignition no pump running, removed pipe for fuel at engine and switched ignition on no fuel coming through, used manuals and supposed to be a relay there for fuel but there is no relay on this model
